Current Research

Philippe’s research focusses on the origin, evolution and biogeography of the Pantepui herpetofauna as well as the taxonomic revision of several keystone taxa inhabiting this outstanding area. He has conducted expeditions in the area leading to the discovery of many new taxa, the collecting of crucial tissue samples for phylogenetic analyses and a better understanding of the distribution patterns of these organisms. His work combines an integrative approach based on molecular and morphological data as well as bioacoustics.
