Dag has been investigating biology and ecology of the common toad Bufo bufo for his Master thesis at the University of Zagreb in Croatia. He has also participated in projects of amphibian species inventory research and monitoring as a member of the Croatian Herpetological Society – “Hyla”.  Currently, he is interested to widen his insight into chemical communication of salamanders and newts. His research, within the TAPAS project (Tracing Antimicrobial peptides and Pheromones in the Amphibian Skin), is focused on explaining the functions of different ways of chemical communication in this group from an evolutionary perspective.
