Ines completed her Master's degree in 2005 under the supervision of Franky Bossuyt and S D Biju, mainly focusing on phylogenetic relationships in ancient lineages of ranid frogs. Now she is about to finish her PhD on patterns of vicariance and dispersal at different spatial and temporal levels. Her work includes (1) The early biogeographic history of Natatanura (Ranoids) and Microhylidae in light of the sequential tectonic break-up of Gondwana, (2) Tertiary dispersal routes between present-day continents, and (3) Tertiary colonization of India from Eurasia and the influence of the Himalayan mountain range. She is not only interested to understand how dispersal happened, but also why, i.e. what morphological and molecular adaptations have promoted range shifts.
